The first volume is a ledger relating primarily to the real estate holdings and business of the estates of the Rev. Samuel C. Brincklé and his brother John Rodney Brincklé. John R. Brincklé had owned a large tract of real estate on the south side of Pennsylvania Avenue between Rockford and Mount Salem Lanes in Wilmington, part of which contained the family mansion "Gibraltar" and part of which had been divided into lots as the development of "Highland" starting in 1881. Heald & Co. handled this development and subsequent payments to the estate. The ledger contains accounts with the children of Samuel C. Brincklé, who were the estates beneficiaries, with other parties, for the sale of lots in "Highland", and for the settlement of a mortgage on the "Gibraltar" property. The ledger also contains a map of "Highland" drawn in 1896. The second volume is an interest collection ledger by undivided accounts (1893-1896).
